Guitar

Playing a Carvin CT6M, this solid body features a mahogany body, flamed maple top, very high output humbucker/split coil pickups, stainless steel frets, locking tuners and thru-the-body bridge. This double cutaway guitar provides the classic rock platform to generate spanky clean sounds, gritty blues sounds and blistering rock rhythms, riffs and solos. Ample sustain and harmonics are available to JFab from this very versatile guitar. Other guitars are used as necessary for alternate tunings.

Floorboard

A variety of guitar effect pedals are used to allow JFab to play sounds of an acoustic guitar, twangy country guitar, bluesy gritty guitar, classic rock crunch and full out hard rock. FYI, JFab does not play any modern Heavy Metal songs, although the sound could be generated from this floorboard. JFab has spent the last 10+ years working on this floorboard to assure the ultra dynamic, high headroom, extremely versatile multiple sound generating set of tools. These guitar effect pedal are of the highest quality and include:

  1. Tuner
  2. Blues overdrive
  3. Low gain + Volume boost
  4. Med/high gain + Clean vol boost
  5. Line boost + clean vol boost
  6. Detune above/below
  7. Flanger
  8. Delay
  9. Slapback Delay

Amplifier

JFab uses a 1996 Carvin Vintage 50 guitar amplifier with a 12" Celestion Vintage 30 speaker. The amplifier has 50 watts power and includes a 100% tube preamp and 100% tube power amp. This amplifier has EQ control which includes Bass, Middle, Treble and presence controls. An internal adjustment is available inside this amplifier which allows the electrical current running through the tubes to be set manually. This allows JFab to set the amplifier to meet the desired guitar sound goals. A reverb is also included in the amplifier. This amplifier is a very high headroom amp which allows excellent dynamics and is extremely sensitive to string picking dynamics. The Vintage 50 amp is a very transparent amp that does not add coloration to the the guitar sound that is being generated. In other words, the amplifier allows the sound of the guitar and desired effect to come through without being changed.
